I’ve been a dev at 8 places over 28 years and have never heard of this level of incompetence since git came along. Prior to git, with cvs, svn, tfs, vss - yeah, lots of incompetence because the tools sucked. Git solves all those problems tho!
I personally find it easier for non programmers to use a START:LENGTH model.
3:5 is (up to) 5 elements starting at the third.

Clickhouse has a unique performance gain when you have a system that isn’t operational data that is normalized and updated often. But rather tables of timeseries data being ingested for write only.
An example, stock prices or order books in real-time. Tens of thousands per second. Clickhouse can write, merge, aggregate records really nicely.
Then selects against ordered data with aggregates are lightning fast. It has lots of nuances to learn and has really powerful capability, but only for this type of use case.
It doesn’t have atomic transactions. Updates and deletes are very poor performing.
I used to agree, but recently tried out Clickhouse for high ingestion rate time series data in the financial sector and I’m super impressed by it. Postgres was struggling and we migrated.
This isn’t to say that it’s better overall by any means, but simply that I did actually find a better tool at a certain limit.

If you’re not expecting millions of rows, you could just use the country code directly in the user table and not use a foreign key/table at all. Just an idea.
However, if you want the country table, i would find this list in a csv format (or copy paste into goog sheets or such and massage it) and then use a tool or write a quick script to ingest it into the db. If you’re doing that you should design the country table to have id, code, name. It can be used for populating dropdowns or autocomplete or such too.
Over-engineering is a thing; keep it simple. If you’re doing this mainly as an exercise to learn, over-engineering can be ok - just understand that it doesn’t HAVE to be done any particular way, and there is no “right” way. Design is subjective and varies based on the needs of your software.
ChatGPT went through a phase of overly bubbly upbeat responses, they chilled it out tho. Not sure if that’s what you saw.
One thing is for sure with all of them, they never say “I don’t know” because such responses aren’t likely to be found in any training data!
It’s probably part of some system level prompt guidance too, like you say, to be confident.
lol PS/2 ports are the newer ones. There were larger AT ports and ADB ports in addition to the 25-pin(!) LPT port (printer mostly) and COM ports (random peripherals including early mice, pre ps/2)
